The Lost Symbol

Ron Howard won’t be returning to direct the second sequel to “The Da Vinci Code”, despite directing the other instalments in the Dan Brown book cum film series. “He wanted to produce this one, not direct,” a Sony insider told Deadline. “Ron told Amy Pascal and Michael Lynton that he was not going to be directing Dan Brown’s novels anymore. He just didn’t want to do that thing over and over, the same character and the same stories.”

The Walking Dead

The director, showrunner and executive producer of the show is stepping down. Frank Darabont, depsite being rather excited about the show’s upcoming second season when stumping it at Comic-Con last week, will no longer be shepherding the series; a series, mind you, he spent five years trying to get off the ground. The Frozen Ground

Scott Walker will direct the film, based on true events surrounding Alaska’s most notorious serial predator, Robert Hansen. “Con-Air” co-stars Nicolas Cage and John Cusack will reunite for the film, with ”Cusack in talks to play a respected family man who for over 12 years abducted more than 24 women and flew them into the Alaskan wilderness to be hunted. Cage is in talks to play a principled and dedicated Alaskan State Trooper who finds Hansen’s only surviving teen victim alive on the street. ”Gnomeo & Juliet” writer/director Kelly Asbury will reunite with Rocket Pictures on a film based on the book series. The books tell of a young cowboy who seeks justice in a world that mashes together fantasy and the Wild West. “It’s a classic cowboy story for kids, set in an amazing world,” Rocket Pics’ Elton John said in a statement. “We think family audiences will love it.” (More…)
