Upcoming Melissa McCarthy Projects
The “Bridesmaids” actress will, in addition to playing parts in “This is Forty” and “Dumb Jack” (which sounds like it’s the project mentioned a while back that was set to star McCarthy and Jon Hamm), star in a road trip comedy she wrote called “Tammy”. “It’s so funny, and it also kind of breaks my heart. It’s these two women who are not where they thought they’d be, and they kind of band together.” (THR)
Anything but Ordinary
Young cuties Emma Roberts (“Scream 4″) and AnnaSophia Robb (“Soul Surfer”) will team for a music-driven love story. The pic tells of “a seventeen-year-old diving phenom who suffers a tragic accident during her final Olympic trials. When she wakes from a coma four years later, as a 21-year old, she is considered a medical miracle. But what no one else knows is that the young woman has become a synesthete, processing words and numbers through color, the third dimension and sound.” Sanaa Hamri (“The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2″) directs.
Stephen King has officially announced that he’s writing a sequel to “The Shining”; in it, young Danny Torrance gets caught up with a vampire tribe. (Deadline)
Untitled Female Detective Pitch

Summit has acquired the rights to the comic book of the same name; “Transformers” producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has been charged with the mission of transferring it to the big screen. “The comic focused on a top secret warehouse in Antarctica called Area 52, a government storage dump for otherworldly discoveries, manned by a ragtag group of misfits who have been exiled to the middle of nowhere to staff it. When an alien killing machine is accidentally hatched in this repository, the group must band together and use the stored mythological weapons and artifacts to save themselves and the world.” (Deadline)

Jeepers Creepers 3
Victor Salva says don’t believe what you hear – at the moment there is no second sequel to his early noughtie’s horror fave. “IMDB continually states that we are either already shooting it or that it is already completed. Readers of my blog know well and good the trials and tribulations of that film’s many starts and stops. And that pre-production hasn’t ever really started on this the third and last film of the “Jeepers” trilogy, though it has come close to going into production several times. I wish I could say when you would be seeing it. It is certainly something I would love to make and the script is very strong and has been written now for about five years. No one argues it is the best idea of all the “Jeepers” films, but it is still technically and independent feature, and getting it’s price tag of around 16 million together — especially now when money is more scarce in the movie biz than it ever has been, “Jeepers Threepers” as I like to call it, is still on the runaway, awaiting take-off orders from the tower. Ironic since it is one of the most requested horror sequels of all the current horror franchises and the Creeper himself was just voted fourth most scary movie monster in the history of cinema, according to a website poll. I can tell you that the script starts with a much-anticipated old west prologue that shows how the Creeper existed (and augmented his wardrobe) back before the days of the automobile. It is much bigger in scope that the two prior films, reintroduces Gina Philips character Trisha Jenner, reveals much more about the creature and his ancestry, and the film also brings the Creeper’s much missed Creeper Truck back into the mix. Everyone in the Creeper camp here, and fans from around the world, hopes this film will find its way to the big screen soon, but to venture when at this point seems unfair to all of us.” (Media Mikes)
Iron Man 3
Disney has decided to shoot their first “Iron Man” movie in North Carolina. Though they originally wanted to shoot it in Michigan, North Carolina just made more sense financially. (The Detroit Free Press)
Star Trek : The Next Generation on Blu-Ray
The rumours are correct, the sequel series to the classic ’60s “Trek” is headed for 1080p. “Star Trek: The Next Generation” will be released in high-definition Blu-ray, starting in January with a sampler of several popular episodes, followed by a season-one set to be released later on in 2012. “Fans have been clamoring for a high-definition release of Star Trek: The Next Generation,” Ken Ross, Executive Vice President and General Manager of CBS Entertainment, said in a statement. “Transferring the series to high-definition presented difficult technical challenges, but our team has come up with a process to create true 1080p HD masters with true HD visual effects. We can’t wait to show fans how pristine the series looks and sounds with our upcoming Blu-ray releases.” (StarTrek.com)
