Schwarzenegger starts filming Expendables 2 next week

Guess it’s official, Arnold Schwarzenegger is indeed reprising his role as ageing mercenary in the “Expendables” sequel.

Schwarzenegger, who had a brief cameo in the 2010 flick, tells Global Arnold that he’s shooting four days on the Simon West directed sequel next week.

Arnold from Austria: I fly in a few days to Bulgaria and stand for four days for Sly Stallone’s ‘Expendables 2′ in front of the camera. The rotation for the first real comeback film wich begins on the October 17th in New Mexico for ‘Last Stand’, an action Film, in which deals with drug smugglers, I play the sheriff.

The site also says that the film has begun filming.

The boys are back, the dream cast is ready for The Expendables 2, now filming of the sequel has started at the Nu Boyana Film Studios facility in Sofia. Sly Stallone, Dolph Lundgren and Terry Crews are on the set, then we really wait for ARNOLD and Bruce Willis in the next couple of days/weeks. We already know that J.C. Van Damme and Scott Adkins will attend on October 14th. Still waiting for Nic Cage and Chuck Norris to be confirmed!

They are shooting in BG in the Nu Image studio in Sofia, in the winter resort Bansko, at the airport in Plovdiv (the second city in population in BG), and near Lovech (a real bridge has been developed near Devetashka Cave which is one of the biggest caves in BG and a famous sightseeing for the tourists. After the shooting is finished Sly promised that they will not destroy the bridge over river Osum but he’ll leave it as a present to the BG country and there are rumors that the prime minister of BG will come along with Sly for the opening of the bridge. This range will be used for outdoor shootings.) Below is a photo of that cave and the near range:

Excited for the film, folks? Anyone else you think should be in there – maybe Jeff Speakman or Mel Gibson?
