Funny man Steve Carell is set to produce and star in an action heist flick “Conviction”, as a mastermind bank robber.

Deadline says the script, written by¬†Jonathan Herman, is about a bank thief who serves five years behind bars after a robbery gone wrong, and then an FBI agent forces him to entrap his protege who’s trying to pull off a mega-bucks con.

There’s no word who’ll be his younger upstart, but the film is said to be in the similar vein of action-comedy to “Ocean’s Eleven”.

Can Carell pull off the job with “Conviction”?
