Elijah Wood is a Maniac in a remake of 80’s shrieker

Movie News

Elijah Wood is going is set to take his career in a whole new direction with his latest role. Bloody Disgusting reports that the Middle Earthian will play a serial killer who works at a shop that sells antique mannequins in a remake of the classic “Maniac”. Wood’s character finds victims on the internet and stalks them like prey, all the while suffering from hallucinations that throw him back into the past, when he was abused by his own mother. In his twisted mind, he gains a measure of revenge against his mother with each kill.

Sounds like fun!

The indie film will be directed by Franck Khalfoun and produced by Alexandre ‘me loveth the remaketh’s’ Aja and Gregory Lavasseur and will begin shooting later this year.

Back in ’05, Wood also took on the creepy role of Kevin in “Sin City”.

Meanwhile, Peter Jackson uploaded a new production video that focuses on the 3D aspect in the film and Jackson taking viewers through the technology being used to travel back to Middle Earth. I’m not LOTR fan, but the video is really cool to watch.
