Russell Brand’s inching further and further away from that unnecessary “Drop Dead Fred” remake. Good news.

According to THR, the Brit funnyman and Katy Perry quilt-sharer is attached to star in and produce the WB comedy “The President Stole My Girlfriend”.

This is the first film Brand’s set up under his Warner Bros-based banner Branded Films.

“In this movie, the president steals the girlfriend of a sexy hippie—me, obviously,” Brand tells The Hollywood Reporter. “It was inspired by the night I naively invited [Warners president] Jeff Robinov for dinner.”

Matt Portenoy, who recently did a rewrite on the long-gestating “Porky’s” remake, penned the script.

Brand recently worked with Warner on the poorly received “Arthur” redo.
