Lionsgate bringing McConaughey back for Lincoln Lawyer 2

Caffeinated Clint December 7, 2011 Movie News

I think it’s fair to say that, besides “Tropic Thunder” (which he had an unbilled involvement in), “The Lincoln Lawyer” is Matthew McConaughey’s most successful and most-liked movie in quite some time. The 2010 legal drama, based on a book of the same name, not only made a pretty penny at the box office but saw the same reviewers that attacked McConaughey’s “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past” and “Fool’s Gold” doing a flip-flop and applauding the man and this movie.

Lionsgate Vice Chairman Michael Burns was on CNBC (via Deadline) today and discussed what’s ahead for the studio (whose biggest release of 2012 is undoubtedly “The Hunger Games”). While he mentioned the possibility of another “Saw” movie later on, and confirmed some new TV ventures (like the new Jenji Kohan show “Orange Is the New Black”), Burns could confirm plans are afoot to bring McConaughey back for another “Lincoln Lawyer” movie.

According to the big wig, the studio’s got a bit of a crush on the “Lincoln” property, and in addition to a new TV series they’re developing – which won’t feature McConaughey – there’s a bigscreen sequel coming – with McConaughey.
