Though Russell Crowe was originally set to play the in the feature film adaptation of the classic TV actioner, his “American Gangster” co-star Denzel Washington is now the headline act, according to THR.

Crowe and director Paul Haggis had been attached to the film, with the “Man of Steel” actor playing the part made famous by Edward Woodward, but according to the trade Washington and producer Alex Siskind are now running the show.
