Paramount pushes Hansel & Gretel : Witch Hunters to 2013

Caffeinated Clint January 10, 2012 Movie News

In an interesting move, albeit one that might pay off, Paramount has pushed “Hansel & Gretel : Witch Hunters” from March 2012 to January 2013. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the thinking behind the movie is that the studio can then cash in on star Jeremy Renner to a greater degree – being that he’ll have been seen in “The Avengers” and “The Bourne Legacy”.
Numerous other factors contributed to the push too; the 3D materials for the film are only now just coming in, and Paramount want to time to market that aspect around the globe; also, Paramount is making enough loot from films like “The Devil Inside” (the micro-budget horror film that’s given the studio it’s biggest early January opening ever) to see them through 2012. By saving “Hansel” until early 2013, their prospective hits are spaced apart a little more. Continuous cash-flow, if you will.
