The film formerly known as “Oblivion” has tagged Andrea Riseborough and Olga Kurylenko it’s female leads. Tom Cruise plays the last man on an uninhabitable Earth, repairing robots that fight an insidious alien race. Deadline says “W.E” star Riseborough plays ”a beautiful woman who crashes on the planet and goes on a journey with the guy, which makes him question his role on the planet.” while “Quantum of Solace” star Kurylenko is playing a role Jessica Chastain was originally pencilled in to play (before the actress departed for the Kathryn Bigelow Navy SEAL Team 6 movie), “the woman who lives with Cruise’s character on the desolate planet.” The untitled flick should be underway in March.
Terence Stamp (“The Adjustment Bureau”), Kathryn Winnick (“Love and Other Drugs”) and Kenneth Welsh (Windom Earle on “Twin Peaks”) have joined the cast of the Kurt Russell-Matt Dillion actioner about a former band of thieves, led by retired motorcycle daredevil Crunch Calhoun (Russell) and his brother Nicky (Dillon), who reunite for one last big score that reveals the brothers have their own agenda. Chris Diamantopoulos and Jay Baruchel are already onboard the Jonathan Sobol directed pic. (THR)
Kristen ‘I’m not doing Bridesmaids 2, Okay!?‘ Wiig is in talks to play the female lead in the Ben Stiller starring remake of the 1947 classic. The Hollywood Reporter says the film centers on a timid magazine photo manager (Stiller) who daydreams of exciting adventures, only to find himself in an adventure of his own when he goes in search of a missing negative. Wiig will play his co-worker and the girl of his fantasies. Shirley MacLaine is being courted to play Stiller’s mother in the 20th Century Fox redo, which Stiller will also direct.
James Marsden (“Enchanted”), Billy Bob Thornton (“Bad Santa”) and Thomas Jane (“I melt With You”) will star in the killer bear actioner from “Saw V” helmer David Jackl. The film tells of a group who, while out camping in the woods, “are attacked and relentlessly stalked by a horrifying grizzly bear—the Red Machine.” (Variety)
Judge Reinhold (“Beverly Hills Cop”), Burt Reynolds and Paul Rodriguez will star in the Paul Madden written/directed comedy about a group of golf-addicted stand-up comics who stage a golf tournament in order to save an old comedians’ retirement home from a corrupt Mayor and a greedy developer. A TV series based on the film is also said to be in-development.
