Rooney Mara set for another edgy sexually-charged thriller, Side Effects

Blake Lively has been dropped from Steven Soderbergh’s sexy psychological thriller “Side Effects”.

The “Gossip Girl” actress wasn’t someone that offered financier Annapurna Pictures was crazy for; as such, they’ve brought in “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” head-turner Rooney Mara to replace her.

Mara joins Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jude Law and Channing Tatum in the Scott Z.Burns-written pic.

Says Deadline :

Mara plays Emily Hawkins, a sexy but unsettled young woman who is taking serious amounts of prescription drugs to deal with anxiety and depression surrounding the pending release of her husband from prison.

Shooting begins in April on the film. Following “Side Effects”, Mara is expected to join Joel Edgerton in Kathryn Bigelow’s untitled Hunt for Bin Laden picture, before reprising her role as Lisbeth Salander in “The Girl Who Played with Fire”.

While at school she created a Film Club, electing herself President. Eventually the School Principal asked her not to get up in assembly to talk about movies anymore.
