Find out who’s replacing Bruce Campbell as the male lead in the new Evil Dead

Shiloh Fernandez (“Red Riding Hood”) has been cast as the male lead in that worrying but potentially decent “Evil Dead” remake.

Variety doesn’t state it, but I’m assuming Director Fede Alvarez has cast Fernandez in the role of David. Despite being an ensemble, he and sister Mia (the character Lily Collins was playing before she dropped out) seem to be the focus of the picture.

I say this, of course, cos I’ve read the libretto.

The “Evil Dead” redo, which is due to shoot in New Zealand in a month’s time, is produced by the original “Evil Dead” trio Sam Raimi, Robert Tapert and Bruce Campbell. And no, Campbell swears he won’t be making a cameo as ‘Ash’. Apparently the only Ash we’ll see in the remake is that of fire debris around the camp.
