Casting Roundup : Scott, Perry, Ashmore, Jolie, Minghella, Watson, Levi

Adam Scott, now light years away from when he was mulling over appearing in a little werewolf movie I had in the works (that would’ve starred the late Patrick Swayze), has snagged another plum gig. The “Parks & Recreation” star is onboard “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty”, Ben Stiller’s remake of the old Danny Kaye flick. (Deadline)

Kevin Sorbo, Stelio Savante, Matthew Perry, Kristy Swanson (“Buffy, the Vampire Slayer”), Dean Cain (“Lois & Clark”) and Dominique Swain (“Lolita”) have joined the cast of “The Whole Banana”, a comedy about a “struggling artist Fran (Swanson) who is unhappy with the men in her life. For help, she prays to Greek god Hermes (Kevin Sorbo). Enraptured by her appeal, Hermes enters Fran’s life and sweeps her off her feet. However, Hermes can only stay on earth for two weeks. Swain plays Swanson’s best friend and confidant and Savante portrays Swain’s long suffering husband. “(Deadline)

Shawn Ashmore (“X-Men”) and Valorie Curry (“The Twilight Saga : Breaking Dawn – Part 2″) have joined the cast of the untitled Kevin Bacon-James Purefoy serial killer drama, set to air on Fox. (Deadline)

Angelina Jolie says she’s still attached to star as ‘Maleficent’, the villain of the “Sleeping Beauty” story, in Disney’s film of the same name. Jolie, who hasn’t acted in two years, says it’ll be her next gig. (The Playlist)

Max Minghella (”The Social Network”) and Eloise Mumford have joined the cast of Joe Johnston’s “Not Safe for Work”, a micro-budgeted thriller about a killer invading a paralegal firm.

Emma Watson (“Harry Potter”) will star in Guillermo Del Toro’s “Beauty & the Beast”. “Three Musketeers” scribe Andrew Davies has been hired to write the project. (Variety)

Zachary Levi (“Chuck”) will star in Fox’s single-camera comedy pilot ”Let It Go”, an ensemble comedy about “a married couple, the husband played by Levi, his best friend and her sister as they try to navigate, negotiate and sometimes manipulate society’s unspoken rules.” (Deadline)
