Image Entertainment Acquires Biel’s The Tall Man

Given that the film premiered just last night at the SXSW Festival, this is some pretty great news for Jessica Biel and the team involved with the thriller, “The Tall Man”. Image Entertainment has already acquired the U.S. Rights for the film as well as VOD rights. Below is the press release with all the info:

Image Entertainment, Inc. has acquired the U.S. rights including theatrical, home entertainment, digital, VOD and broadcast, to the new thriller, THE TALL MAN. The film premiered recently at the Berlin Film Festival and is being shown at this year’s SXSW Festival. A dark and mysterious film about an unidentified child abductor, THE TALL MAN stars Jessica Biel (“New Years Eve”, “The A-Team”), Jodelle Ferland (“The Cabin in the Woods”, “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”), Stephen McHattie (“Immortals”, “2012”), William B. Davis (“The X-Files,” Passengers), Samantha Ferris (“Along Came a Spider”) and Katherine Ramdeen (“The World”, “The Flesh & The Devil”) and was directed by Pascal Laugier (Martyrs). The film was produced by SND, Radar Films and Mind’s Eye Entertainment. Today’s announcement was made by Image Entertainment’s Chief Acquisitions Officer Bill Bromiley.“THE TALL MAN is a chilling thriller that is sure to keep audiences on the edge of their seats,” commented Bromiley. “We’re pleased to have picked up this exciting film so soon after its debut and plan to release it theatrically this fall.”

“We’re very excited to bring the film to American audiences” commented Lionel Uzan, Director of Acquisitions and International Sales at SND.

A darkness hovers upon the town of Cold Rock. Children have gone missing over the years leaving neither a clue, nor a witness. Superstitious locals talk of “The Tall Man”, a legendary, mysterious dark figure who takes children away never to be seen again. Julia (Biel) is a nurse living in Cold Rock who doesn’t believe in legends. That is, until one night, she wakes with an eerie feeling only to find her son’s bed empty. Frantic, she rushes downstairs where she stops dead in her tracks – a huge dark figure stands in the entrance holding her son, David. Driven by pure instinct, Julia rushes after them willing to do whatever it takes to get her son back. The chase is on and with it, the quest for answers. Who is the Tall Man? And what has become of the children?

THE TALL MAN is written and directed by Pascal Laugier and produced by Clément Miserez (Radar Films) and Kevin DeWalt (Mind’s Eye Entertainment) along with Jean-Charles Levy (Forecast Pictures) and Scott Kennedy (Highwire Pictures).
