Alicia Malone is a Film Reporter, TV Host, Producer, Writer, Editor, and all around movie geek. She developed her taste for film at a young age, spending many a heady Friday night pajama-clad at the video store, picking out her 7 films for 7 days for $7. Bargain! While at school she created a Film Club, electing herself President. Eventually the School Principal asked her not to get up in assembly to talk about movies anymore.

Over Her Dead Body

Andy Fickman (“She’s the Man”) will direct a remake of the German comedy about “a narcissistic womanizer who dies, goes to Hell and makes a deal with the Devil; if he can heal three hearts that he’s broken in three days, he gets a second chance at life.” “Entourage” scribes Jeremy Miller and Dan Cohn wrote the script. The Jury

Tate Taylor (“The Help”) will write and direct an adaptation of the 2002 British miniseries about ” the inner workings of the trial of a young Sikh student charged with murdering a classmate tormenter. The mini dug into the lives of the jurors and what propelled them as they moved toward a verdict.” Marc Forster had been once attached to direct. (Deadline)

Chinglish

“Fast Five” helmer Justin Lin will direct a film based on the play. “As soon as I saw ‘Chinglish’ on Broadway, I began to envision this smart and insightful cross-cultural comedy as a film,” Lin said. Writer David Henry Hwang will write the screenplay and is set to co-produce the film with Bobbi Thompson. “I’ve loved Justin’s work ever since he burst on the scene with ‘Better Luck Tomorrow’ and it feels very right to be collaborating with him on the movie verision of my play,” said Hwang, who’s won a Tony and is a two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist.
