Michael Douglas to play the American President again

… just a real one this time.

The Oscar Winning “Wall Street” star is playing Ronald Reagan in the Mike Newell-directed “Reykjavik”, says THR.

The picture “takes place over a few days in 1986, when Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev met for talks in the Icelandic capital to iron out peace against the backdrop of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. The producers now are looking to find their Gorbachev.”

The $10 million dollar production, shooting next March in Germany, was originally eyed by Ridley Scott as a directing vehicle. Scott, who directed Douglas in “Black Rain”, remains attached as a producer.

Douglas has a big year ahead; in addition to the all-star comedy “Last Vegas”, the actor plays Liberace in HBO’s “Behind the Candelabra”.
