Only because we’re now in the business of shattering the thumping hearts of romantics everywhere, Richard Gere has slammed down the nail on a wooden box, confirming he and Julia Roberts won’t ever be doing “Pretty Woman 2″.

Similar to reasons Roberts and director Garry Marshall had previously given, Gere believes the original film – which he says is one of his favourites – is a fairly conclusive affair, and “I don’t think we should go back there”.

Gere torpedoed the sequel to the 1990 hit in an interview with Popsugar.

Gere, Roberts and Marshall would later reunite for the less-than-stellar “Runaway Bride”.
