Donnie Brasco scribe penning Scarface remake

Paul Attanasio (“Donnie Brasco”) is rewriting David Ayer’s “Scarface” remake script, says Deadline.

The new film, said to combine elements of both the 1930’s and 1980’s versions of “Scarface”, is being produced by Marc Shmuger and Martin Bregman. No director is onboard yet.

It may seem like sacrilege and cheek to remake the classic “Scarface”, but remember, the 1983 film was actually a remake itself (of a classic Howard Hawks movie). Still, it will be hard for any actor to top Al Pacino’s memorable performance as Tony Montana in that last version.
