A new trailer for “The Host”, seemingly designed to replace “Twilight” as the most popular young people’s film franchise on the block, is online.

As Saoirse Ronan’s character Melanie Stryder says at the beginning of the trailer, the film is significantly more science-fiction based than it’s film peers.

“This is the beginning of a love story. And it may not seem like a big deal, except for one thing — this is the future, and humanity is all but extinct. We have been invaded by another species, who erase our minds to take our bodies. But there are a few of us left who still fight back.”

Max Irons, Diane Kruger, William Hurt and Jake Abel also star in the Andrew Niccol (“Gattaca”) directed picture.
