Merlin axed after five seasons

BBC One’s “Merlin”, the fantasy series loosely based on the King Arthur & Friends legend, will cease production after five seasons.

The two-part finale will air in the U.K over Christmas, with this final season debuting in the U.S in January.

Shine and FremantleMedia Enterprises are currently developing several potential “Merlin” spin-offs.

Among it’s cast, “Merlin” featured such notable thesps as Anthony Stewart Head, Colin Morgan, and John Hurt (who voiced the Dragon).
