Horror sensation “American Mary” has been acquired by XLrator Media, according to Deadline.com.

Written and directed by Jen and Sylvia Soska (“Dead Hooker in a Trunk”), the female-centric horror flick will be released on XLrator Media’s newly-created Screamfest label in Fall 2013.

“American Mary” tells the story of medical student Mary Mason (Katharine Isabelle) as she becomes broke and disenchanted with medical school and the career she formerly idolised. Lured by the opportunity for easy money and the possibility of notoriety, Mary finds herself entering the shady world of underground surgery and body modification.

Antonio Cupo (Bomb Girls), Tristan Risk, Paula Lindberg and David Loygren are set to co-star in the film, which was produced by IndustryWorks Pictures, Evan Taylor and John Curtis.
