Comic fans know that, at some point, Gwen Stacy will bite the bullet in the new series of “Spider-Man” films. With Shailene Woodley introduced in next year’s “Amazing Spider-Man” sequel, and playing Peter Parker’s long-time love Mary-Jane Watson, does that mean the end is near for Emma Stone’s sandy-haired current-Spidey squeeze, Stacy?

Stone, out plugging “Gangster Squad” spoke limitedly about the fate of Spidey’s girlfriend, and whether or not the new film will feature a tragic death scene.

“The Amazing Spider-Man 2″, out May 2014, also stars Andrew Garfield, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan and Martin Sheen.
