Don Scardino (“The Incredible Burt Wonderstone”) will direct the remake of the 1979 caper. The original starred George Burns, Art Carney and Lee Strasberg as three senior citizens who, bored with their lives, decided to rob a bank. Ted Melfi will script the redo for New Line. (Variety)

Y : The Last Man

New Line has tapped commercials director Dan Trachtenberg to direct the feature adaption of the science-fiction comic book series. The helmer snagged the gig by way of his fake movie trailer for the video game “Portal” (below) (Deadline)

Cleopatra

“Life of Pi” helmer Ang Lee says he’s interested in directing the long-gestating feature, set to star Angelina Jolie. “I’m about to read the script. It just feels right to me after all the other types of films I’ve done. What does it have in common with any of them? They’re all totally different! That’s what makes this perfect.” (Collider)
