Alicia Malone is a Film Reporter, TV Host, Producer, Writer, Editor, and all around movie geek. She developed her taste for film at a young age, spending many a heady Friday night pajama-clad at the video store, picking out her 7 films for 7 days for $7. Bargain! While at school she created a Film Club, electing herself President. Eventually the School Principal asked her not to get up in assembly to talk about movies anymore.

Having just heard that our traffic has doubled in the last six minutes, I feel like a bit of a cool, slyly smirking web gangster myself (go Moviehole squad!), so rather appropriate that we continue on our plight to talk everything “Gangster Squad” – one of the week’s big new releases.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer and written by Will Beall (a real-life detective turned screenwriter; it’s his script that’s largely responsible for “Gangster Squad” turning out so fun – some of those conversations are to-die-for!), the all-hats actioner stars Sean Penn as an ostensibly unstoppable gangster who has recently relocated to Los Angeles with plans to monopolize the criminal community. Josh Brolin, among others, play the ‘Untouchable’ types who plan to thwart the bad guy’s plan.

I had the opportunity to catch up with the “Gangster Squad” cast and crew this week, including Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, and director Ruben Fleischer, for the following chats. You’ll learn as much as you’ll snigger at my awkward fist-thumps!- – guaranteed!

Also, if you haven’t read my “Gangster Squad” set visit that’s here, and Clint’s review of the film is here.
