“Hercules”, the Brett Ratner-directed adventure romp starring Dwayne Johnson in the title role, has been skedded for a August 8, 2014 release.

The MGM/Paramount co-production is based on Radical Studios’ graphic novel ‘Hercules: The Thracian Wars’ and features Johnson in the infamous warrior role previously played on screen by the likes of Kevin Sorbo, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lou Ferrigno and Steve Reeves.

Peter Berg, who worked with Johnson on “The Rundown”, serves as one of the film’s executive producers.
