David Walton (“New Girl”) will reprise the role played by Hugh Grant in a small-screen take on the film “About a Boy”.

Based on the Nick Hornby novel, adapted for the big screen a few years back, the NBC series will follow “the relationship between a bachelor man-child and the young boy who moves in next door with his crazy, single mother”, according to THR.

Walton plays Will, ”the musician/bachelor man-child” in the Jason Katims-penned pilot.

The part of the young boy, played in the film by “X-Men : First Class” star Nicholas Hoult, is yet to be cast.

The pilot for “About a Boy” is being steered by “Iron Man” director Jon Favreau.
