Will Smith will reunite his “Men in Black” scribe Ed Solomon on the long-proposed remake of “Colossus” says THR.

The pic, the story of a scientist that goes head-to-head with the computer he created, one that’s since taken over the world, has been in the works for a while now; Solomon will rewrite previous drafts by Blake Masters and Jason Rothenberg.

1970’s ”Colossus: The Forbin Project”, based upon a novel, starred James Bridges and Dennis Feltham Jones. The Smith version will, if the A-lister onboard is an indication, be a much grander tale than the modestly-budgeted original.

Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are among the producers on the tentpole.
