“Star Trek Into Darkness” bad guy Benedict Cumberbatch has joined the cast of another big-budget blockbuster, “Crimson Peak” for director Guillermo Del Toro.

Emma Stone, of the “Spider-Man” series, is already a lock to play the female lead in the Haunted House thriller. Production begins February 2014.

The film tells of a “woman who discovers that her husband may not be whom he appears to be” according to THR.

Cumberbatch – near as busy as “Crimson Peak” director Del Toro, who has no less than a dozen projects in various stages of development – is currently filming “The Fifth Estate”, playing Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, he’s also set to return for another go-round as TV’s “Sherlock” and will be seen in “The Hobbit” sequels, “August : Osage County” and 12 Years a Slave” as the year trickles on.
