1. Barbara Marshall is writing Summit Entertainment’s ”Exorcism Diaries”. ”The log line is being kept under wraps, but the film is inspired by the book The Real Story Behind The Exorcist by Mark Opsasnick. Exorcism Diaries is being produced by Roy Lee, Sonny Mallhi and Doug Davison.”

2. “Evil Dead” star Jessica Lucas has joined Paul W.S Anderson’s “Pompeii”.

A&E Network has picked up a second season of the acclaimed drama series, “Bates Motel” starring Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore from executive producers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin, it was announced today by Bob DeBitetto, President and General Manager of A&E Network and BIO Channel. The premiere of “Bates Motel” garnered 4.5 million total viewers and 2.5 million adults 25-54 and 18-49, based on Live+7 viewership, making it the most-watched original drama debut in the key demos in the network’s history.

4. Harvey Keitel, Brenda Blethyn, Ellen Burstyn, And Luis Guzman have joined Forest Whitaker in “Enemy Way”, which “follows William Garnett (Whitaker), a Muslim ex-con struggling to rebuild his life in a small New Mexico border town after 18 years in prison.”

5. Filmmaker Todd Field, Brian Oliver and Tyler Thompson, co-founders of Cross Creek Pictures, and Patrick Milling Smith and Brian Carmody, co-founders of Smuggler Films, announced today that their companies will team up to produce the film adaptation of Jess Walter’s New York Times Best Seller, “Beautiful Ruins.” Todd Field and Jess Walter are confirmed to write the screenplay, with Field set to direct. The epic story begins in the spring of 1962 off the Ligurian Sea and centers on three young characters whose orbit around one another is set in motion by an incident involving the international jet-set center, Rome, in the throws of “La Dolce Vita” madness during the shooting of Cleopatra, and continues for decades.

6. The “Avatar” sequels will be made via the use of underwater performance capture.
