Casting : Travolta, Spencer, Witherspoon, Alexander, DiCaprio, Garfield, Walker


Two- time Academy® Award Nominee John Travolta (is set to star in BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning director Philip Martin’s “The Forger” produced and co-financed by Code Entertainment (Code) alongside The Solution Entertainment Group (The Solution), it was announced by Code’s Al Corley and Bart Rosenblatt and Lisa Wilson and Myles Nestel, co-founders and partners of The Solution. Plans are being made to shoot later this year, in between festival honors for his work in his upcoming release ”Killing Season”. Code’s Al Corley, Bart Rosenblatt, and Eugene Musso will produce “The Forger”, along with Prospect Park’s Rob Carliner. Jonathan Dana and Randi Michel are executive producers with The Solution’s Myles Nestel and Lisa Wilson who will handle all international rights to the film and introduce it to buyers at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.

Octavia Spencer (“The Help”) is joining Kevin Costner in Mike Binder’s indie drama “Black and White” (Variety)

Reese Witherspoon is joining Keanu Reeves on the science-fiction pic “Passengers” for director Brian Kirk and Exclusive Media. “The story follows a spacecraft transporting thousands of people to a distant colony planet that has a malfunction in one of its sleep chambers. As a result, a single passenger (Reeves) is awakened 90 years before anyone else. Faced with the prospect of growing old and dying alone, he eventually decides to wake up a second passenger (Witherspoon), marking the beginning of what becomes a unique love story.” (Deadline)

Andrew Garfield is playing Father Rodrigues in Martin Scorsese’s next film “Silence”. ”Silence is an adaptation of Shusaku Endo’s novel about 17th century Jesuits who to try bring Christianity to isolated Japan.” Ken Watanabe (“Inception”) is also onboard. The movie will shoot in Taiwan in July 2014. (Deadline)

Benjamin Walker (“Abraham Lincoln : Vampire Hunter”) is in talks to join Ron Howard’s “In the Heart of the Sea”. ”Walker is in talks to play George Pollard, the arrogant privileged son of a whaling family who attempts to use his family name as an advantage to gain captaincy, and who butts heads with shipmate Chase (Hemsworth), who knows the job and the sea much better. Pollard’s rep is ruined because of a mishap with another ship and he is relegated to night watchmen duty for the rest of his life. The movie tells the fact-based tale of Nantucket whaling ship the Essex, which was stalked and ultimately destroyed by a sperm whale in 1820. Stranded thousands of miles from home, the crew struggled to survive; they were lost at sea for 90 days. Eight were rescued.” (Deadline)
