Aussie director Brian Trenchard-Smith will direct John Cusack in the actioner “Hard Drive”. The Voltage Pictures release is “the story of an American thief who travels overseas and tricks an ex-Formula 1 champion into becoming his getaway driven.” Principal photography on the film is skedded for June 3. Carey Mulligan and Matthias Schoenaerts will star in Thomas Vinterberg’s “Far from the Madding Crowd”. DNA/Fox Searclight’s film sees the twosome “play Bathsheba Everdine and Gabriel Oak in the story of the ill-fated passions of a willful young woman and her three suitors”. Production takes place in the Fall (Deadline)

Patrick Fugit will headline “The List” for co-writers Harris Goldberg & Kristen D’Alessio. Goldberg is directing and D’Alessio is producing the Los Angeles-lensed film, in which Fugit “plays a young man who undertakes the task of fulfilling a self-improvement list to secure the girl of his dreams. The journey triggers a reexamination of his true self, values and perspective on life.” Shooting is getting underway in Los Angeles, with Jennifer Morrison, Karen Gillan, Aaron Staton, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Giles Martini, Jobeth Williams and Victoria Tennant.(Deadline)

Marton Csokas (“The Lord of the Rings”) will play the villain in Antoine Fuqua’s “The Equalizer”. The character is a “vicious fixer” for the Russians. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Rob Riggle (“21 Jump Street”) has joined the action-comedy “Let’s Be Cops”, headlined by Damon Wayans Jr and Jake Johnson (The Wrap).

Leonardo DiCaprio may be joined by Robert De Niro on David O.Russell’s “Legacy of Secrecy”, which which threatens to blow the lid off of what really happened in Dallas in November 1963. (Showbiz 411)

Olga Kurylenko (”Oblivion”), Luke Bracey (”G.I. Joe: Retaliation”) and Bill Smitrovich (”Iron Man”) are set to join Pierce Brosnan in the espionage action-thriller ”November Man”, directed by Roger Donaldson. It “tells the story of an ex-CIA operative (Brosnan) who finds himself pitted against his former pupil (Bracey) in a race to find a woman hiding from her past (Kurylenko) who holds the key to an international conspiracy.” (Coming Soon)
