Oscar Winner Anthony Hopkins will star opposite John Travolta in the long-awaited John Gotti biopic, starring Travolta in the title role, says Variety.
The “Silence of the Lambs” and “Red 2” star enlists for a film that’s tried but failed to get up a few times now.
Aside from Travolta, it once had Linsday Lohan and Joe Pesci attached – they’re no longer involved. At this stage, only Travolta and wife Kelly Preston are believed to be officially onboard “Gotti”, with Hopkins the third to join the cast roster.
“Captain America” director Joe Johnston has taken on the project, which “focuses on the teflon don’s career as a gangster boss and his son, who decides to leave the crime world in order to redeem himself”, inheriting the job from previously-attached director Nick Cassavetes.
Actor and writer Leo Rossi (“Halloween II”) wrote the screenplay for “Gotti”.
Production is due to begin in New York in September.
