Krysten Ritter (“Veronica Mars”) has joined the cast of actor Jake Hoffman’s directorial debut “Asthma”. Co-starring Australia’s Benedict Samuel. the film “examines the consequences of the live fast, die young mentality in NYC’s indie rock scene.” The New York-lensed movie begins production in the Fall (Deadline)

Pierce Gagnon (“Looper”) will play Zach Braff’s on-screen son in the Kickstarter-funded “Wish You Were Here”. Kate Hudson, Josh Gad, Anna Kendrick, Mandy Patinkin, Joey King, Jim Parsons, and Donald Faison are also onboard the film, which Braff has described as somewhat of a sequel to “Garden State”. (Deadline)

One-time “Northern Exposure” star Janine Turner is joining Anthony Hopkins and Colin Farrell in “Solace”. Hopkins plays a “retired doctor and FBI psychic John Clancy, who’s tasked with helping hunt down a killer (Colin Farrell). Turner will play Elizabeth Clancy, wife of Hopkins’ character.” (Deadline)

David Oyelowo (“The Butler”) will star in BN Films’ indie drama ”Nightingale”. The actor plays “Peter Snowden, a man obsessively in love with an old Army friend who begins to spiral downward as the pair’s reunion approaches.” (Deadline)
