Depp to reunite with Koepp for Mortdecai

Well, it doesn’t look like the “Lone Ranger” sequel is going to happen and a boy’s gotta eat!

Tonto is saddling up for a reunion with David Koepp.

Johnny Depp and “Secret Window” helmer Koepp look to re-team for Lionsgate’s “Mortdecai”, an adaptation of the ’70s novels by Kyril Bonfiglioli, that would center on a “debonair art dealer and part-time rogue”.

Deadline warns that although negotiations might have begun, don’t consider Depp a sure thing for the film just yet – after all, he’s renowned for dropping out of films, even those close to their shoot date. Having said that, Depp and Koepp have remained close throughout the years, and were looking at doing a remake of “The Thing Man” together at Warner Bros before the project was put on pause.

Depp’s next film is “Transcendence” from Wally Pfister, followed by the fifth “Pirates of the Caribbean”.
