Clint Eastwood is in talks to direct “American Sniper”, based on the autobiography of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Steven Spielberg had been previously attached to direct.

Bradley Cooper, also a producer on the project, remains attached to play Kyle.

If he agrees to do it, aging legend Eastwood will have a busy year ahead of him. He is about to start shooting the musical “Jersey Boys”, and would have to begin “Sniper” by early next year – simply because star Cooper is in-demand and has other commitments.

Kyle held the record number of sniper kills for an American.
