A few weeks back we reported that Timur Bekmambetov was the favourite to helm a new big-screen version of “Ben-Hur”. Deadline has confirmed that a deal has been done with the filmmaker. Though made into a film before, this isn’t strictly a remake since the story started in literary form… so pipe down purists!
Hollywood’s gung-ho for a remake of the acclaimed classic “Ben-Hur”, with “Night Watch” director Timur Bekmambetov the favourite to direct.
Deadline says MGM are talking to the filmmaker about bringing the vintage novel ”Ben-Hur: A Tale Of The Christ” back to the big screen. Keith Clarke (“The Way Back”) adapted the book on spec; it apparently got the studio enthusiastic about bringing the Steel Chariot back to cinemas.
