Taylor Swift to The Giver role : You Belong to Me

If even just so she can have a thing with Jeff Bridges, which leads nowhere, thus an opportunity write a hit song on the heels of said crumbling romance, Taylor Swift has jumped aboard “The Giver”, director Phil Noyce’s film adaptation of the young adult’s science-fiction novel.
Swift, who appeared in 2010’s “Valentine’s Day”, joins a slew of talented thesps in the production including Bridges, Meryl Streep, Katie Holmes and “True Blood” alum Alexander Skarsgaard.
Deadline, who report on Swift’s anointment back infilmville, have no deets on who she’s playing but assumingly it’s someone pretty, blonde and with the ability to whip everyone’s ass in Karaoke.

The story centers on Jonas (Bridges), who lives in a seemingly ideal, if colorless, world of conformity and contentment. Not until he is given his life assignment as the Receiver of Memory does he begin to understand the dark, complex secrets behind his fragile community. …

Production on “The Giver” kicks off October 7 in South Africa.
