Our first up-close-and-personal look at some set shots from “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” have hit the internet today, courtesy of Mockingjay.net.
The stills show eternal survivors Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth) dressed in the plain grey garb of District 13, the base of the rebel operation trying to overthrow President Snow’s dictatorship over Panem.
Following the end of “Catching Fire”, Katniss discovers that Panem is in full rebellion, thanks to the machinations the citizens of District 13, several previous Hunger Games victors and even some angsty Capitol citizens. Compared to the starvation-plagued District 12, District 13 exists under the iron rule of President Coin, who compels all citizens to conform to plain standards of dress and behavior – but at least here, everyone has a roof over their heads and nobody is likely to die of hunger.
“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” is the stunning conclusion to the “Hunger Games” trilogy and has recently commenced filming in North Carolina; the final book in the trilogy will be split into two films a la “Harry Potter” and “Twilight”.
