David O.Russell to be honored at Santa Barbara Film Fest

On the heels of his second consecutive Oscar nomination for Best Director, the Santa Barbara Film Festival has announced it will present David O Russell with their Outstanding Director Award on 31 January.

Russell’s “American Hustle” was also nominated for the Best Original Screenplay Oscar, and THR reports he has become the first man to direct back-to-back films that garnered noms in all four acting categories (last year’s being “Silver Linings Playbook”).

Other big names to be honored at the festival include Robert Redford, Cate Blanchett, Oprah Winfrey and Emma Thompson.
