Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal will star in Philip Seymour Hoffman’s directorial debut “Ezekiel Moss”. Hoffman has been attached to the project, based on a Black List script by Keith Bunin, since 2012. ”Adams will play Iris, who, emotionally fragile after the loss of her husband, runs a boarding house to get by and provide for her spirited son, Joel. They reside in a small town overrun by religious fervor, and their lives are forever changed when she begins to fall in love with Ezekiel Moss (Gyllenhaal), a mysterious drifter who has the divine ability to channel and physically inhabit the spirits of the dead.” (The Hollywood Reporter)

Jessica Chastain and Vanessa Redgrave will star in “The Secret Scripture”. Thaddeus O’Sullivan directs the movie, based on the book by Sebastian Barry. ”The Ireland-centric story centers on a 100-year old woman who has been in a mental hospital since World War Two and with the facility closing, a psychiatrist tries to piece together why the woman is there, not knowing she has been hiding a diary under the floorboards. Chastain and Redgrave are to play younger and older versions of the woman, detailing the scars the Presbyterian woman suffered during Ireland’s civil war and her harsh abuse by a priest.” Noel Pearon (“My Left Foot”) will produce. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Emma Thompson and Robert Carlyle will star in a film adaptation of Douglas Lindsay’s ”The Long Midnight of Barney Thomson”. ”Carlyle will also star in the title role as a downtrodden Scottish barber who inadvertently stumbles into serial murder, allowing his dark fantasies to become reality. Thompson will play his mother, a character who cheerfully emasculates him at every turn.” Ray Winstone and Ewan Bremmer are also onboard. (Variety)

“Kill Your Darlings”‘ Daniel Radcliffe and Dane De Haan are set to reteam with that film’s director John Krokidas, for ”College Republicans”. The film, written by Wes Jones, tells of ”Karl Rove (DeHaan), who, under the guidance of Lee Atwater (Radcliffe), runs a dirty campaign for for the College Republican Chairman in 1973.” (The Wrap)

“Star Trek” star Zachary Quinto has joined the cast of the ‘Hitman’ reboot “Agent 47″. Starring Rupert Friend in the lead role, the Aleksander Bach-directed movie tells of an agent assigned the task of protecting a waitress from a group known as The Syndicate. No word on Quinto’s character. (Deadline)
