Alec Baldwin has booked a new project, the Hollywood veteran set to play Robert Maheu in Warren Beatty’s Howard Hughes biopic.

Beatty will produce, direct and star as Hughes in the pic which thus far remains untitled.

Lily Collins will also star as a love interest of Hughes while Alden Ehrenreich will play his assistant. Martin Sheen, Matthew Broderick and Annette Bening are also attached to star.

Maheu was a close right-hand-man to the eccentric billionaire who never actually met Hughes in the flesh, receiving all communication via notes and telephone. After being dismissed by Hughes in 1970, Maheu won a libel suit against him that was overturned.

Brett Ratner will produce with Christopher Woodrow, Molly Connors and Beatty.
