Kathryn Bigelow and Tom Hardy are set to team up to bring novel “True American: Murder & Mercy in Texas” to the big screen.

Annapurna Pictures has acquired the rights to the book written by Anand Giridharadas which tells the real-life story of the abuse Raisuddin Bhuiyan, a Bangladesh Air Force officer, faced in America post 9/11. Bhuiyan was living and working in the States when American terrorist Mark Stroman shot, maimed and nearly killed him in the name of revenge.

Bigelow will direct the pic in which Tom Hardy is attached to star.

W.W. Norton & Co is publishing Giridharadas’ book.
