Chris Columbus sails into Gremlins remake

Movie News

Seems the inevitable “Gremlins” remake – yep, it’s now being referred to as a remake, as opposed to reboot, meaning it’s unlikely the new film will honor the events of the first two film- has inched closer to the starting line.

Chris Columbus, writer of the original 1984 film, has been roped into producing the project, says The Tracking Board. The “Home Alone” alum joins Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg, who are producing via their KatzSmith Productions company. Steven Spielberg, who produced the original Zach Galligan/Phoebe Cates movie, is also involved.

Columbus is also producing “The Goonies 2”, the sequel to the 1985 film – which he wrote.
