Christian Bale may pick up the lead role in Fox’s adaptation of “The Deep Blue Good-By”.
Variety reports that the star has agreed to play Travis McGee, however no official offer has been made.
James Mangold recently boarded the project as director with the most recent draft of the script penned by Dennis Lehane.
John D. MacDonald’s book was published in 1964 and would become the first instalment in the 21-book series that followed main character McGee.
McGee, a self-described “salvage consultant”, works to recovers others’ property for a fee and along the way gets into trouble fighting bad guys and wooing women.
Chernin Entertainment, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson-Killoran are producing for Appian Way with Amy Robinson.
