Idris Elba puts a spell on Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur

Idris Elba (“Pacific Rim”) is in talks to play a Merlin-esque character in Guy Richie’s “King Arthur” film, says Variety.

Unlike the title role (which Ritchie will cast by way of screen tests – near and fear; that’s apparently about to get underway), it was a straight offer for Elba. His character is said to be someone – not unlike the mystical, magical Merlin – who helps train Arthur.

The Joby Harold-penned pic is released July 22, 2016.
