Dominic Cooper (“Need for Speed”) will play Jesse Cutter in the TV adaptation of controversial comic book “Preacher”.
The show’s EP Seth Rogen tweeted on Friday that they’d chosen Cooper to play the man who’s gonna “save our souls”.
“Preacher” is based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s controversial ’90s series from Vertigo, and will star Cooper as a Texas preacher who, after learning God has left heaven and abandoned all responsibility, tracks him down. Jesse is accompanied by Tulip O’Hare (Ruth Nega) on his quest for answers. Along the way, the twosome run afoul of a killing machine and lone cowboy who wants Jesse dead.
Other cast onboard include Lucy Griffiths, Joseph Gilgun, and Ian Colletti.
Rogen and his “This is the End” partner Evan Goldberg adapted the comic with Sam Catlin (“Breaking Bad”) for the AMC TV version. Rogen and Goldberg will direct.
