Yesterday it was reported that Dominic Cooper would play the titular role in AMC’s drama pilot “Preacher”.
Today Deadline reports Elizabeth Perkins will co-star.
“Preacher” is based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s controversial ’90s comicbook series from Vertigo, and will star Cooper as a Texas preacher named Jesse Cutter who, after learning God has left heaven and abandoned all responsibility, tracks him down. Jesse is accompanied by Tulip O’Hare (Ruth Nega) on his quest for answers. Along the way, the twosome run afoul of a killing machine and lone cowboy who wants Jesse dead.
Perkins will play Vyla Quinncannon, a genteel but formidable businesswoman who shares a past with Jesse’s father, which gives her a singular hold over him.
Other cast onboard include Lucy Griffiths, Joseph Gilgun, and Ian Colletti.
Seth Rogen and his “This is the End” partner Evan Goldberg adapted the comic with Sam Catlin (“Breaking Bad”) for the AMC TV version. Rogen and Goldberg will direct.
