A TV series based on the 1999 comedy “Galaxy Quest” is in the works at Paramount Television, according to Deadline.
Some of those involved in the film, including writer Robert Gordon, director Dean Parisot, and producer Mark Johnson, are involved in the small screen incarnation. Gordon is expected to pen the pilot for the series, while all three are executive producing alongside Johnson’s Gran Via Prods. partner Melissa Bernstein.
Starring Tim Allen and Sigourney Weaver, “Galaxy Quest” sent up classic TV series’ like “Star Trek”. The film, which also featured Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, and Justin Long, went on to become a cult classic.
“Galaxy Quest” is merely one of several movies Paramount Television are adapting for TV; others include “Ghost”, “School of Rock”, and “Shooter”.
