Casting: Lady Gaga, Bloom, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Arrow, Stamos

Lady Gaga is in talks to star in Bradley Cooper’s “A Star Is Born” remake, reports Deadline.

Cooper is attached to direct, produce and star in the film, based on William Wellman’s 1937 movie about a fading movie star who helps an aspiring actress while his own career spirals downward.

Gaga has been tied to the project for some time, apparently Cooper’s first pick for the lead role after Beyonce dropped out.

 

 

Orlando Bloom has joined Shanghai-set action thriller “Smart Chase: Fire & Earth”, from director Julien Seri.

According to Variety, “Smart Chase” centers on a washed-up private security agent who gets ambushed as he attempts to escort a pricey Chinese antique out of Shanghai.

 

 

The cast of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” continues to grow with Logan Marshall-Green and Martin Starr both said to be on board the superhero film.

THR roperts Marshall-Green is in talks to join Michael Keaton as an antagonist in the film while Deadline brings news of Starr’s casting, though hasn’t mentioned what role he’ll play.

Tom Holland stars as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the film which sees Spidey back in high-school.

Jon Watts is directing.

 

 

Josh Segarra has come on board as a new series regular for Season 5 of The CW’s “Arrow”.

Segarra will play Adrian Chase, “Star City’s new district attorney and an ally of Mayor Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), who aims to clean up the streets through the legal system” (via Deadline).

 

 

John Stamos has come on board “Scream Queens” season two, cast as a series regular.

He joins Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer, Billie Lourd, Niecy Nash and Glen Powell in the second season of the show, which will be set in a hospital.

The hospital will be run by Dean Cathy Munsch (Curtis), who has moved on after abolishing the college Greek system and traveled the world in search of a new mission.

Stamos will play Dr. Brock Holt, the hospital’s brilliant, but secretive, head surgeon.
