TV : Star Trek : Discovery, Riverdale announce new stars

‘80s icon Molly Ringwald will play Archie’s mother on The CW’s “Riverdale”.

The “Breakfast Club” actress makes her first appearance in the tenth episode of the televised account of the comic.

Mary Andrews (Ringwald) left Riverdale two years ago to follow her dreams, but blows back into town in her family’s hour of need. She not only reconnects with Archie and her husband, Fred (Luke Perry), but also her former high school friends Hermione and Alice. Her reappearance coincides with the Homecoming Dance.

“Riverdale” is set in the present day and is based on the iconic Archie Comics characters. The show is described as a surprising and subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring the surrealism of small-town life — the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome façade.

Ringwald did a lengthy stint on the TV series “The Secret life of an American teenager” in recent years.

Star Trek : Discovery

Sonequa Martin-Green, best known for playing Sasha on “The Walking Dead”, will play the lead in CBS All Access’ “Star Trek Discovery”.

Martin-Green plays a Lt. Commander on the vessel Discovery. She joins Michelle Yeoh, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Shazad Latif, Mary Chieffo and Chris Obi on the series.

The series, premiering in May, is set a decade before the events of the original “Star Trek” series.

Is a big believer in getting as much exercise in the fresh air as one can - which is why Tawnee always connects the TV to an extension chord so she can strenuously lug the set into the yard on nice days.
